StepWare releases Text-To-Speech add-on for PC AceReader Pro series.
StepWare has released a Text-to-Speech add-on for its flagship product, AceReader Pro. Designed for students, teachers and business executives, AceReader Pro can help you learn to read faster, on and off the computer. Now, AceReader Pro reads to you, aloud, in your choice of many natural human sounding voices.
Adding text-to-speech capabilities to AceReader Pro supports three of AceReader's critical markets:
- Early Reading Fluency (grades 1-3): Up to now, the AceReader product line was typically recommended for grades 4 through adult, and has mainly been focused on helping students become "better" readers. "Better" meaning "faster" while maintaining or improving comprehension. With Text-To-Speech, the program can now help children just learning to read by pacing eye movement in the many available display modes while speaking the words at the same time.
- ESL and foreign language students: Students learning English can now hear the words as the text is flashed or highlighted on the screen. Forced speed/mode comprehension tests can now be used to test listening skills.
- Online Readers: Customers who use the Online Reader screen as a productivity tool to help them read more efficiently while on the computer can sit back and not read at all while web pages, email, word processing documents... are spoken to them at desired display modes and speeds. StepWare has released Version 2.0 of AceReader Pro Series of Products.
Once again, StepWare has met customer demands by adding new features and product enhancements to its family of speed reading and reading improvement software.

AceReader Sweeps Shareware Industry Awards.
( Tampa , Florida ) - July, 1999 -- AceReader, the productivity and education program from StepWare, has won three awards at the 1999 Shareware Industry Conference.
AceReader won the Shareware Industry Awards Foundation's People's Choice Award for Educational Software. AceReader also won Ziff-Davis' 1999 FamilyPC Shareware Awards competition in the education category, as well as the 1999 FamilyPC Shareware Awards "Program of the Year."

StepWare has released version 4.0 of AceReader, a productivity and education program that increases your reading speed. AceReader is designed for reader of all levels (students, business executives...). It can be used as: (1) an Online Reader to help you read faster while on the computer; and (2) an Educational Tool to help you learn to read faster, both on and off the computer.
AceReader version 4.0 is a major update. By popular demand, this version now has multi-line display modes. It comes with more than double the reading/comprehension tests that were available with previous versions (now over 200 tests, broken out by grade levels). This version also implements a new speed algorithm which means that the speed will auto-adjust depending on how much text is displayed. Other new features include: Ability to set margins and text widths; ability to save your clipboard to files; and the ability to select from a list of pre- configured productivity and educational option settings. In addition, the File menu now remembers the last 5 files loaded, and now all options are auto-saved when the program exits.
