Winners are selected from titles submitted by software publishers around the world. All submitted titles are made available to school districts, teachers, and the public through ComputED and the Educational Software Preview Service of San Diego Center for Educational Technology (a nonprofit organization).

"This straightforward program teaches children and adults how to read faster and understand more (improve comprehension). It's easy to use. First you take self-paced reading comprehension tests to determine your base reading speed. Then, you perform reading drills and play skill-building games. Tests and drills are broken out by grade levels 1-12+. Exercises consist mainly of speed drills and multiple choice assessment of understanding. Detailed records are kept, and the program is customizable in that teachers can make their own drills and tests. You won't find frills‹ just straightforward skill practice."
